One time Lana and I went with another couple to the Lee theater to see The Cotton Pickin Chicken Pickers that was shot mostly at the Hickeys Creek swimmin hole and featured Joby Burketts 8 cylinder Lycoming powered airboat. The opening scene was a train pulling into the Palmdale train depot. This story aint got nothin to do with the movie, but I just want to splain that we had HIGH CLASS taste in the selection of movies we went to see. At any rate we paid our way in, bought some popcorn and sody water and went in. For some reason Glenn wanted to set up in the balcony (you could prop your feet up on the railing) so up there we went. The movie was running along fine and the popcorn wuz good and there we sat, all four of us with our feet up on the railing, life wuz GOOD! Somewhere in the middle of the movie, through no fault of her own, ol Lana dropped one of her shoes, it was outside of the railing and hit somebody down on the ground floor!!! You talk about EMBARASSING, I had to go down and get her shoe and apologize to whoever it was that it had hit. Im happy to report that the man whom it had hit had a sense of humor and gave the shoe back for me to take back for ol Lana to put UNDER HER CHAIR til the movie wuz over and weve lived happy ever since!
