One year ago, today, as my beautiful Patty Harrison Cagle called - TopicsExpress

One year ago, today, as my beautiful Patty Harrison Cagle called me before her gallbladder surgery to tell me she loved me, I attempted to convince her, that since it was the 21st Anniversary of losing my amazing Grandma (Bettie Jane Hawk-Harrison) that she would be surrounded and protected. At 11:42 am I received a call that would change our lives forever and we spent the day learning of my Moms condition, the fear and sadness was overwhelming, as a strong family, we found a way to tell her with love and support one another throughout the following 8 weeks. July 11th has been a strange day for our family for many years. I spent some time looking for the perfect old photos to tell this story of the women and family that made me and guided me into the person I am continue to become daily. What I found were numerous photos of care and unconditional love. The overwhelming theme was that we were always together, outside, in nature! The lake, the mountains, the woods, state parks or the beach. A few weeks ago, I picked up a Walt Whitman book so I could find the perfect passage to explain my recent experiences, feeling as if I am coming home in the mountains, in water, with nature and back into my heart. I found an unexpected inscription by my Mommy that helps me feel deeply connected today. These photos exemplify the women, who they are, what they have taught me, and who I am becoming. I am in deep gratitude, not only for them but for my family. There is absolutely NO place I would rather be than with with them. Today, I will spend in deep gratitude, in nature with my family. Thank you so very much to ALL of you that have lent support, love and kindness of a journey marked one year ago today. Life is unfolding and as we learn to live in our hearts, the joy grows daily.
