One year ago today, our sport, our country, our world was attacked by ruthless terrorists. In the aftermath, we came together as one worldwide running community, including St. Petersburg at the Tampa Bay for Boston Memorial Run. Together, we heard first-person testimonies from local athletes who ran the Boston Marathon, we lit (battery-operated) candles, we heard Elizabeth Holloway sing our National Anthem and later, Ave Maria. And finally, we ran 2.62 miles through the streets of St. Petersburg with our lit candles. Together, 800 athletes raised $15,000 to send to victims through the One Fund Boston. Later, athlete Marsha De Sylva Strickhouser placed one of our shirts at the Boston Marathon Memorial site. Today, one year later, all the victims are in our hearts, minds, and prayers. If you have one, I encourage you to wear your shirt today - I am. If you put it on, please post your pics to show your solidarity. Please share with your friends.
