Online delivery of instruction will play an increased role in the education of our youth. Dr. Mugur Geana met yesterday with Richard Branham, professor of industrial and interaction design and Edward Meyen, Budig teaching professor and co-director of the e-Learning Design Lab to discuss collaboration opportunities for exploring the intimate relationships between visual communication and learning. Previous research conducted at the JSchools Experimental Research Media Lab, in collaboration with researchers from the University of Missouri and North Dakota State University, explored the influence of visual components of online courses (visual prompters, video of instructor, etc.) in promoting the attention of the viewer to the information presented on the screen. The study was presented last week at the 2013 Conference of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology in Anaheim, California.
