Only razor sharp broadheads should be used to hunt with. A 100 - TopicsExpress

Only razor sharp broadheads should be used to hunt with. A 100 pound deer has about 100 ounces of blood and must lose 1/3 of it (about a full 30 oz. detergent bottle amount) in order to die. Much of the lost blood may stay inside the deer on a poor hit -especially a high hit with no exit hole. A broadhead tipped arrow that passes through a deer in the heart/lung area will typically leave a lot of bright blood with bleeding from both the entry and exit holes. Blood trails like this are often easy to follow with blood visible on leaves, the ground, logs, etc. Shots outside the heart/lung area may still be fatal but often leave much less blood to follow - sometime with 20 or 30 yards or more between blood droplets. Use toilet paper to mark blood drops every 20 feet or so especially making sure to always mark the last blood you find if the trail gets difficult to follow.
