Open Letter to Dianne Gumbomarie Honore -I am openly sharing this section of my forthcoming book with Dianne because she speaks truth and has allowed me to face personal truths. On our culture and supporting her post on Glambeaux - Muses Parade ... I had never written on dance, yet felt compelled to do so in homage to my city that had been evaluated from every demographic, yet its humanity incomprehensible on every level, even to the well - intended reconstructionist. In the process of my research, I confessed my discouragement because of the utter destruction to the city, but more disheartened by and repelled against the demise of the cultural and social fabric of New Orleans caused by the overwhelming presence of the deconstructionists who flaunted our cultural traditions in front of the world while misappropriating them for repackage and sale, rather than the category 5 hurricane that first decimated and then exposed the physical environment, built and natural to New Orleans. The experience was a Congo Square historical retrospect from my 9th grade Louisiana history class at Alfred Lawless Jr. High School. Greer E. Mendy 6/7/2013
