Sir, We are very much pleased to inform you that Information Resource Center (IRC), Nagpur, SUM-NET, Pune and Hazard Center, New Delhi have jointly organized two days workshop on the issue of “Urban Transportation” more specifically of the Orange city Nagpur here on 29th’ & 30th’Nov’2014. We are passing through an era of rapid urbanization of our cities. In the quest for making the cities world class the cities are going a sea change. This has posed newer challenges on urban governance, urban infrastructure and of course on sustainable development. Urban transportation is one of the key areas of urban governance. Public Transportation effects directly or indirectly to thousands of citizens every day, but the fact of the life is such a sensitive issue is never been discussed in the public domain. On one hand traffic congestion, crippled public transportation, pollution is being accepted as part of the life and on the other hand flyovers, four lane roads, star bus, metro, sky bus and so on is been introduced by the planners as solutions. The objectives of the workshop are 1) to understand the whole issue of urban transportation holistically. 2). to sensitize on the issue of urban transportation and to plan for peoples intervention. 3). to understand the Nagpur scenario of urban transportation. 4). to understand National Urban Transport Policy 4). to create a local platform of citizens. The interesting part of the workshop is the participants would be taken to field as a part of practical. Eminent experts on the issue would guide the participant.
