Opened the mail yesterday and read the beautifully written article in The Recall Remembering Payton. I dont know who wrote it but thank you. It talked about all the wonderful tributes to Payton, the kind of person Payton was -- that he possessed a genuine kindness towards others and always tried to look on the bright side of things. Then I opened a handwritten note from a retired nurse and grandmother who was the donor receipient of one of Payton`s cornea. She said how grateful she was to be given the gift of sight which enabled her to see her grandchild born in June. I will not get to see my grandchildren born of Payton but she will get to see hers. God always brings beauty for ashes in some way or another. He is still making people happy!!!! It breaks your heart and makes you smile at the same time. The article said, the very best way to honor Payton`s memory is to emulate his life philosophy. Smile as much as you can. Make others smile. That was definitely Payton and as hard as it is for us, that is what we try to do because we know that more than anything, that is what he would want us to do.
