Oral contraceptives, sometimes simply called The Pill, are small - TopicsExpress

Oral contraceptives, sometimes simply called The Pill, are small oral tablets that a woman takes every day. If taken properly, these pills are more than 99% effective in preventing pregnancy. Though there are different variants, the pills contain artificial hormones that mimic those produced naturally within a womans body (the most common are the hormones estrogen and progesterone). These pills prevent a pregnancy by either inhibiting the release of an egg (ovulation) or by blocking the sperm from fertilizing the egg within the woman. The trained operators available at our hotline can explain further if you would like more details.
