Ordnance Survey place rebranding exercise directly in the hands of (Un) Natural England. Along with others, the Cornwall Branch Celtic League will be campaigning for the withdrawal of (Un) Natural England and their fellow quango English Heritage from Cornwall. Neither have any place here. Thank you for your comments regarding the creation and in some cases renaming of the England Coast Path. Ordnance Survey’s remit is to record the geometry and name of features that are deemed to be of interest to our users. These include national and local government (at all levels), utilities, many industries and, of course, the general public. In doing so Ordnance Survey records the actual position of a feature and its official name. Ordnance Survey has no part to play in any decision regarding the creation, planning or naming of national trails, parks, motorways, offices, houses or anything else that appears on our maps, although it is true that our maps are often used in the planning process for these. The decision to create an “England Coast Path” lies with Natural England and the Secretary of State and it is with them that you must take up your argument. Further details on the creation process can be found at naturalengland.org.uk/ourwork/access/coastalaccess/default.aspx I trust this is helpful Kind regards Lesley Please note that our helpline telephone numbers have changed. The new numbers are one digit different from our existing numbers, with 0845 now starting 0345 instead, as below Lesley Flood
