Organizations which support the homeless in France spent their Christmas in front of the Housing Ministry to draw attention to a housing crisis which has dragged on for years in France...Over the past decade homelessness is up nearly 50%, with expulsions of families increasing due to the economic crisis. One out of 6 people in France suffers from a serious housing problem.... Rents in France have risen more than 120 percent since 2000. France has some 3.5 million people living in poor conditions, and yet there is an estimated 2.6 million apartments which sit empty year-round.
