Osun Gubernatorial: Adeleke may step down Senator Isiaka Adeleke - TopicsExpress

Osun Gubernatorial: Adeleke may step down Senator Isiaka Adeleke is weighing the option of stepping down from the PDP primaries slated for April 5, if he is unable to secure a postponement of the scheduled event using both political and legal options. Since joining the race, his entry has been dogged with several controversies including the failed attempt to get President Jonathans nod to contest. He was also denied by former Governor Gbenga Daniel whom he had named as a facilitator of his fake presidential endorsement. Daniel said nothing like that happened. In many Local governments, the leadership of the Party refused bluntly to be recruited into the Adeleke project and did not distribute his delegates forms. The Party members deem his entry as a destabilizationplot being sponsored and financed by the ruling APC in Osun State. In addition, funds have been in short supply thereby making his gubernatorial project a still birth. He has also not been able to state what his plans and programmes are to move the state forward. Returning the State to its glorious past as he claimed is mere rhethorics that has no depth. He is being perceived as a traitor in many quarters among Party members who see him as wanting to reap where he did not sow. He joined the race two weeks to the finishing line and he expects to be favoured? No way quipped a Party chieftain. Perhaps the biggest embarrassment is the way he dropped the President s name as his sponsor. Some of his backers are also regretting bringing him to join the race as they have found out contrary to their expectation that he is very broke and cannot fund his campaign. They are equally unwilling to expend their life savings on him because they have seen that the project does not stand a chance of success. The earlier euphoria that greeted his entry has waned and he is unable to convince Senator Olasunkanmi who is from the same zone with him to step down for him. As a fact, Senator Olasunkanmi has waxed stronger since Adelekes entry because more people see him as better prepared and highly focussed on his project. He has also shown consistently that he has the resources to fund his campaign and has relevant contacts in high places to see him through. Senator Adeleke having benefitted from Senator Olasunkanmis stepping down in the past is having a guilty conscience and may consider stepping down for him this time around but hes been prevailed upon not to do so by the army of supporters who see this project as an opportunity to make money. Senator Adeleke does not have a structure yet in the state and rum ours have it that he may used the structure of Wole Oke who is in secret alliance with him and may indeed have stepped down for him. The next 48 years will be crucial. Adeleke will decide whether to continue or bow out honourably. This is difficult time for the PDP in Osun State. Many people dont want the PDP to miss this opportunity to chase out unpopular Aregbesola and APC but that will depend on their selection of an acceptable candidate as flagbearer. As things stand, Adeleke cannot rally the Party together because he is not trusted by the people and will find it difficult if not impossible to galvanize the Party to victory
