Our 3rd Annual Jackson Street Skate Park Block Party is the weekend of July 20th and 21st, 2013 from 2-8PM. This is a family event that offers the community a free 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament and Skate Board Competition. We also have free small games that are fun for all ages and live music including the return of Ray Red from Australia. This year we are dedicating the block party to suicide awareness in honor of Rob Walsh, a special young man that we lost earlier this year. Rob aided us in making the skate board completions a success and was a positive role model to the youth at the Jackson Street Skate Park. We are asking for donations of prize items, sponsors and partnership(s) for the 3rd Annual Jackson Street Skate Park Block Party and to bring back the Kids Night Out Movie Night that will be held at the Jackson Street Skate Park. Two years ago, through fundraisers, we hosted three movie nights that were very popular. Unfortunately, last year we were unable to raise enough funding for the movie night and hope through business partnership they can return for 2013. Activities will be on going throughout both days. Basketball Tournaments will be on Saturday and Skate Board Completions on Sunday. Dedication to Rob Walsh will be on Saturday. Each day we will have a BBQ, vegetable sales from the Hyde Park Community Gardens, bake sale, and raffle items. The Scranton Police Department is our partner and will provide K-9 demo and other community safety activities.
