Our Bear...our boy... with a heavy heart we had to euthanize one of our own animals, Bear our beloved Finnish Spitz that made the journey to New Jersey more than a decade ago when I moved here from another state. He has tolerated dozens of animals through the years. This photo was taken a couple of years ago by Kimberly Wink Photographer who rode in the backseat getting this awesome photo of Bear his favorite past time in the car with the wind in his face. Friends, please dont tarry, get the photo that captures the essence of your loved one. Both Ms. Wink and Valerie Bruder are excellent animal photographers. As well, we hope this poem will ease your heart if it was as heavy as ours when we stayed with him til the end and held him firm. Thanks to Dr. John at Tri County Vet Hospital in Woodstown and my husband (and heartbeat) for giving me the courage to let him go. The Last Battle If it should be that I grow frail and weak, And pain should keep me from my sleep, Then will you do what must done, For this,the last battle, cant be won. You will be sad I understand, But dont let grief then stay your hand, For on this day,more than the rest, Your love and friendship must stand the test, we have had so many happy years, You wouldnt want me to suffer so. When the time comes, please, let me go. Take me to where my needs theyll tend, Only, stay with me till the end and hold me firm and speak to me, until my eyes no longer see. I know in time you will agree, it is a kindness you do to me. Although my tail its last has waved, From pain and suffering I have been saved. Dont grieve that it must be you, who has to decide this thing to do; weve been so close, we two,these years, Dont let your heart hold any tears.
