Our Daily Bread No Grace | July 13, 2014 by: Julie Ackerman Link I Pet 4:1--11 I have nicknamed R car “NO GRACE.” Sunday mornings r the worst. I load the car w/all the stuff I need 4 church, get myself in my seat, close the door, nd Jay starts backing out of the garage. While I m still getting settled, the seat belt warning starts buzzing. “Please,” I say 2 it, “all I need is another min.” The answer, apparently, is no, b/c it continues buzzing until I m buckled in. This minor annoyance is a good reminder of what life would b like if indeed there were NO GRACE. Each of us would immediately b called 2 account 4 every indiscretion. There would b no time 4 repentance or change of behavior. There would b no 4giveness. No mercy. No hope. Living in this world sometimes feels like falling n2 a NO-GRACE sinkhole. When minor flaws r blown up n2 major indiscretions or when ppl refuse 2 overlook the faults/offenses of others, we end up burdened by the weight of guilt that we were never meant 2 carry. GOD, in His grace, sent Jesus 2 carry the burden 4 us. Those who receive GOD’s gift of GRACE have the privilege of offering it 2 others on Christ’s behalf: “Above all things have fervent love 4 1 another, 4 ‘love will cover a multitude of sins’” ( v. 8 ). Father GOD, the culture around us can seem so harsh/hard on ppl when they fail. Help us 2 show grace/patience, b/c U have been gracious 2 us/have 4given us R sins. WHEN we GRATEFULLY ACKNOWLEDGE the GRACE we’ve RECEIVED, we JOYFULLY GIVE it 2 THOSE in NEED.
