Our Hip Hop International 2014 performance: It was a real - TopicsExpress

Our Hip Hop International 2014 performance: It was a real challenge trying to come up with this set for many different reasons. I automatically fell in love with the idea of doing a barbershop quartet theme for a set but soon realized why it has never been done before... I wanted to come off as is WE were the ones singing the songs to follow the barbershop theme which was probably the biggest challenge. In terms of the dancing, we needed to choreograph with the informed intent of being new school with old school foundations while representing that era right. At one point I was contemplating just choreographing to an Ace Hood track and finishing off with a Buck piece. But I knew that this was something I wanted to go all out with: an artistic output that I wanted to be loved (or hated) for. In the end we sighed at the fact that we were only given 2 minutes to work with but it paid off. The Medal wasnt the pay off mind you... it was the reaction of the crowd. We were always greeted with a roaring crowd and we always ended with a standing ovation. People came up to us telling us how inspired they were. I just I did my job in showing the world that there are many possibilities in this artform and that the Hip in Hip Hop doesnt just stand for the Trends that exist to be followed but rather the Trends that are created because we choose to exist as nothing more than ourselves. Hip Hop is a culture of innovation and creativity, given fundamentals are a staple of this art but even those fundamentals were innovations of its time. Lets be the true Hip Hoppers we were meant to be and start creating so that we can contribute to this great culture. -Crane For what is it to a man if he gains the world but loses his own soul Matthew 16:26
