Our Mothers Union meeting tonight is a little different: a service - TopicsExpress

Our Mothers Union meeting tonight is a little different: a service of holy communion to mark 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, followed by a bring-and-share supper. This is an annual campaign which has been running for more than 20 years and seeks to bring attention to violence against women and girls. It begins on 25th November and runs until 10th December. The campaign urges us to wear purple and yellow to distinguish ourselves but we are reluctant to do that because in this country, those colours are associated with a particular political party! So intead, we are following the United Nations lead and asking you to WEAR SOMETHING ORANGE to the service - a coat, a scarf, a brooch, a pair of shoes, it really doesnt matter what, please wear something orange. The service begins at 7.30pm.
