Our Wednesday tune for the Music Box comes from the musical duo of Dale & Grace. In 1963, while performing at various clubs around Louisiana, Dale Houston was approached by record executive Sam Montel, who told him he should have a female singing partner, and introduced him to Grace Broussard, who also had been performing as a solo around Louisiana. Shortly after forming the singing duo of Dale & Grace, they were handed a song, written by Donald Harris & Dewey Terry, who recorded as Don & Dewey and first put the song out in 1957. Im Leaving It Up To You became a number one hit on both the Easy Listening & Pop Charts. On November 22nd, 1963, Dale & Grace were in Dallas, Texas, as part of Dick Clarks Caravan Of Stars, along with Bobby Rydell, Jimmy Clanton and, Brian Hyland. Moments before the assassination of President John Kennedy, they waved to the Presidents motorcade from their hotel room as it passed by. Eleven years after the song became a hit for Dale & Grace, another duo had a hit with it. The brother & sister team of Donny & Marie Osmond reached #4 in 1974.
