Our active period of weather is right around the corner. Chances for showers and thunderstorms will begin after midnight tonight. The first wave of thunderstorm activity will start after midnight tonight and continue through Monday morning. Storms will likely be forming in numerous individual storm cells, so not everyone will be seeing precipitation tonight. No severe weather is expected with the first wave of storms tonight The next round of storms appears to be most likely to develop Monday afternoon as another upper level wave interacts with peak daytime heating values. Storm mode appears to also be in numerous storm clusters, same as the first wave. While widespread severe weather is not anticipated, the strong heated atmosphere could support some storms to produce small to moderate size hail and strong winds. Perhaps a storm or two could briefly become severe. This storm activity should persist well through the night. Storms will weaken by early Tuesday morning, bu as southerly flow returns to the area, the atmosphere will be quick to de-stabilize shortly after the sunrise. More rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop on Tuesday. Storms will probably be much better organized, so we may be looking at severe weather potential. The SPC has the entire area in a Slight risk for severe thunderstorms, with the primary threat being large hail and damaging winds. Our alert status will remain at "Increased Awareness"
