Our core team at The Kid’s Pantry has a passion and heart to see your kids have clothing that they can be proud to wear. It breaks our hearts to hear of children not having enough or the right size clothes for school, and we reach out when families have tragedies to be able to help. Our love is for your children and to help you in these difficult times. Unfortunately we’ve also experienced some frustrations at the lack of respect people have given and the lack of integrity some have shown. Children making messes and parents that refuse to tidy up after themselves make unnecessary work for our volunteers. At our giveaways we’ve had a huge increase in children NOT being with their parents. Not only is this a hazard for us, its HUGE safety issue for you. Hundreds of people are at the giveaway and anyone one of them could have walked out with MANY children this past giveaway because the parents weren’t even aware their child was away from them. Our parking lot has been horribly littered with cigarette butts, empty cups, orange peels and other garbage. Our lobby has had trash on the floor and church documents drawn on. MANY people have tried to sneak more into their bags and take more items than allowed. I’m not even sure how anyone can find it OK to steal things that are free, but we’ve caught several trying to do it. We do our best not to be intrusive in your lives while serving you. We don’t require proof of income, how may kids you have, or any truly identifying information. People are taking advantage of our non-invasive measures and its hurting all of you. We try to design our rules to benefit everyone while still allowing you to receive what you need. Here are some basic things we ask of you: 1. Be honest! Only take for the children you have. We’re open all year and give many opportunities for you to come in. If you have a TRUE hardship, email us. We are more than accommodating to people who follow the rules and are respectful. We have no desire for a child to be without clothing or basic needs (like a car seat or winter coat), if we have it and you are in NEED then we want to get it to you. 2. Clean up after yourself. FOLD what you’ve looked at so the next person has a tidy area. DO NOT throw the clothes on the floor. 3. WATCH YOUR CHILDREN! We are not babysitters and we are not janitors. If your child makes a mess, YOU need to clean it up. 4. Be respectful to us. We are volunteers. Demanding, bad mouthing, complaining, and telling us we HAVE to do something for you, will get you no where. 5. Be respectful of the church property. Destroying and littering will have an ultimate end result of not having The Kid’s Pantry anymore. 6. If you are able, a suggested donation of $5 is appreciated. Without monetary donations we wont be able to stay open to help anyone. Please do not start any debates on what we should/shouldn’t be doing on this post. You can message or email us if you have suggestions. We will delete any comments we feel necessary.
