Having spoken to Mary before our Lands End to John OGroats cycle adventure we felt we were going to be in great hands. She became a bit of an inspiration for us as we strove to get across Great Britain to the Promised Land of guest houses and she sent encouraging emails as she followed our progress on our live tracker. On arrival, every expectation was exceeded. Mary, Mark and Julie all met us as we crossed the threshold of the town, they then followed us in their cars to the finish, gave us towels after we jumped in the harbour to celebrate and then drove us and our bikes back to the guest house. And that is the right definition - we felt like guests at a friends house, not B&B customers. Scones were consumed, a gorgeous, hearty, home-cooked evening meal, whisky drunk into the night and the most fabulous breakfast ever in the morning (Porridge Royale anyone?). Mary had bought some local produce on our behalf for us to take back with us. Mark then drove us to the shops, the Stacks and then all the way to Thurso (20 miles!) for us to catch our train home. THAT is exceptional and personal service, all with a genuine smile. These people are fab!! Room Tip: Bath was a bonus after 920 miles on a bike.
