Our massive 25 x 25 build in North Carolina has evolved - TopicsExpress

Our massive 25 x 25 build in North Carolina has evolved considerably over the last eight weeks. All of the track, turnouts, and electrical components have been installed in addition to the 18 stall Heljan roundhouse and 130 Walthers DCC turntable. This system boasts a total of 5 geographical grade changes. With concealed staging occupying 45% of the layouts lower benchwork, locals and passenger equipment will have 1.5 to 2.0% grades for very realistic operations. All of the pikes radiuses are large enough (22-30) to accommodate larger than average equipment. This design enables our client to operate passenger or articulated equipment with prototypical operations. Spanning a 48 section along the layout will be two bridges over a 36 gorge. The first of two bridges featured is a massive hand-built wooden trestle with a singe girder mid-span. This highly detailed and enormous structure consists of over 700 pieces; well exceeding 1000 if the bolts are included. The massive span presents a unique topographical challenge and visual center piece in the layout. Spanning above the wooden trestle will be Central Valleys newest releases, the Double Through Truss Bridge. This bridge is being prepped for release next month by CV and weve had an opportunity to be the first to get our hands on the piece. Theyve done some remarkable improvements to the engineering components of the bridge while also improving existing structural designs and details. The benchwork base begins at staging at a height of 40 and climbs throughout the layout to a total height of 50. All grades are between and 1.5-2.0% and contour the design to enable our client to operate prototypically as did the Pennsylvania on the East Coast. The estimated run time for a consist to make its way out of staging to the upper level averages 8 to 10 minutes. With double to single main operations at branch lines, the dividing geography will provide for very enjoyable operating sessions. As with any of our builds we provide our clients with the ability to choose their skill sets against their busy lifestyles. While the Silver series enables anyone to jumpstart their model railroading heritage, clients are offered to integrate additional services as well. For example, this system will now begin its transition from benchwork and operations to becoming more realistic with the application of scenery.
