Our new(ish) neighbors across the street who replaced a nice quiet elderly couple who were living there when we moved in seem to go ALL OUT on decorations for holidays...no matter the holiday. Im usually the house with the scariest decorations on my cul-de-sac for Halloween, but now theyve got a whole bunch of stuff out on their lawn. Im calling them the Buckles (in reference to the American Dad episode which almost exactly parallels this situation). So Ive got to step up my decorations this year. I got strobe lights and sound effects and will be getting a fog machine to set up inside our wishing well (which has a decapitated clown head sitting in the bucket and a strobe light on it as well). Im making things as scary as I can think and suddenly had a flash of inspiration to put it over the top. If I followed the American Dad episode, I would be getting serial killers from the CIA detention facility and setting them free in the neighborhood. Im not going *that* comically far, but.... I want to make a whole bunch of pipe cleaner ebola viruses and scatter them through the cobwebs on my porch. I also want to somehow transform the life-sized Sand Person of Tatooine cardboard cutout staring out our window into an ISIS terrorist (although frankly Im not sure how much I actually need to alter...). The upshot is, theres gonna be something scary for the kids and something scary for the grownups. Im gonna out-Buckle the Buckles!
