Our public housing isnt the smallest as compared to other - TopicsExpress

Our public housing isnt the smallest as compared to other countries. In Singapore, an average 4 room hdb flat size is 90 sqm. UK and Ireland have an average home size of 76 and 88 sqm respectively. This info has brought some people to argue that Singapore is not that bad. While this may be true, what it fails to mention is that other countries dont sell its public housing scheme to the citizens at a handsome profit as opposed to ours. Hence, its only logical if other countries try to downsize and build smaller houses as they take building cost into consideration. In Singapore it is different. HDB doesnt reveal figures on its building cost most probably because it doesnt want to show how much it has fleeced the citizens. On top of making flats smaller to reduce building cost, HDB has increased its selling price over the decades raking in millions of profits at the expense of the citizens. So its justified that Singaporeans are voicing their concerns over the shrinking flat sizes. We deserve better when we pay our minister million dollar salaries. They are supposed to be solving our problems not compounding it. If they cant, then they dont deserve to be in office, raking in out-of-this-world-salary, while producing mediocre results. We expect an extraordinaire Singapore to justify the unparalleled salaries we are paying these people.
