Our reading in Galatians today almost exactly describes the battles that I have been experiencing since the strokes. And yes, I struggled before, too. There is no denying that! My silent stroke, the one that happened before the paralyzing one, was not detected until the latter stroke. Nothing changed, so nobody could see it. Not even me. But the impact was huge and I still struggle with the residual effects even today. I probably will as long as I live. Now, back to Galatians...the things it covers that are of the flesh, I wouldnt battle at all in my flesh (and stroke brain). I would just do them. Because I wanted to. The psychiatrist that treated me after the stroke (not a believer) said that she didnt see what was wrong with what I had done (or wanted to do). They were normal things, she told me repeatedly. What a wonderful opportunity (which continues to this day) for me to share with her the Spirit filled life as opposed to the natural life. The fruit of the Spirit are things I can quote. Not for my glory, but for any possibility of living a Godly life now. The fruit of the Spirit!!! The FRUIT of the SPIRIT! His fruit. This may not be described well, but this was (and is) my strongest daily battle. Thank You, God, for doing in me what only you can do!
