Our rule of law is all but gone regardless of who wins office, the people in the government we created are breaking our laws, our founders never intended that our elected leaders would enrich themselves by serving in government; they never would have imagined public servants making a career out of public office. However, this is exactly what has happened. I am such a dupe, for so many years I have been incredibly naïve! Believing our two Party system consisted of two disparate groups of Americas fighting for distinct ideologies within the framework of our countries Constitution. What a fool I am!! Lobbyists, one of their primary jobs is to gain access to those who are in power in Washington, our elected officials, our bureaucrats, congressional representatives. I always believed it was the K Street Lobbyists were solely responsible for buying votes but I am not so sure about that anymore. Yes, it takes two to tango in Washington and I believe congress is nothing more than a legalized mob extorting money from large corporations. Extorting donations and favors from powerful people, perhaps getting a high paid job for a family member. Everyone remembers the hapless Governor Rod Blagojevich of Illinois, they called him Blago, for those of you who may not pay very close attention to Illinois politics, Blago was caught selling Barack Obama’s U.S. Senate seat in Illinois. His real crime is he lacked the cunning soft touch of extortion like most of his fellow politicos. Blagojevich was taped saying “the Senate seat was a f—g valuable thing, you don’t just give it away for nothing.” He told an aide, “We were approached, ‘pay to play,’ you know, he’d raise me 500 grand, and emissary came, then the other guy would raise a million if I made him a senator.” Personally, I believe this type of transaction goes on all the time in every layer of government, there are those who get away with it (most of them) and there are those who are made an example of.
