Out of ALL the amazing information I took in and am still - TopicsExpress

Out of ALL the amazing information I took in and am still absorbing, that makes me even more amped up to get out there and ride it like I stole it from the Leadership Retreat, I think the Team Building exercise yesterday was my favorite. It was called SPEED MEETING, inspired by the concept of Speed Dating. There were groups of 2 circles of chairs within each other. Each group contained 50 chairs. You were not supposed to be sitting near people that youd consider part of your comfort zone. A horn would be blown and at that time, youd have to introduce yourself to the person seated across from you. Then a question would be presented, that each person had to ask the person seated across from them. When the horn would blow again, the people seated inside the inner circle would rotate to the seat to the left of them. I had so much fun during the exercise, not just meeting others and hearing their stories, but observing everyone DURING it. I know so many people were terrified, it was obvious, by body language and as soon as the rules were announced and the horn blown, everyone was so nervous... and stuck to the rules..but I watched everyone start to relax, loosen up, become more at ease and familiar with the exercise with each blow of the horn... by the (Id say) 10th rotation, no one was even asking the question given and by the last few rounds, people had a hard time moving to the next person (at least in our circle). This reminded me of some of my challengers when they first join my challenge group, its FRIGHTENING to them. They worry bout being called out, put on the spot, judged, or not equal to the others in the group, but the ones who go all in, cast fear aside, find out that its not so bad after all, have an amazing experience and get the most out of the group experience. So I am not sure if this was the whole point or basis that corporate wanted to make from this exercise, but it was an amazing experience. I honestly didnt want it to end. I had a great time and truly saw the value of it. I hope everyone else enjoyed it as much as I did and got something positive out of it too. Like Jeff Hill said of himself, is true of myself, I am weird and always like to find a lesson out of every experience in life and like DeWitt Jones one of the keynote speakers said, its up to us to find the beauty in every situation and opportunity in life. Thank you Arnauld Nakaha and Doug E Moss for the great job you did monitoring the group activity. I loved watching Keichun Graves beautiful self happily and enthusiastically getting our group into it.
