Out of nowhere, since the weekend, has emerged a kind of panic - TopicsExpress

Out of nowhere, since the weekend, has emerged a kind of panic reaction to a poll that has put the Scottish yes campaign potentiall in front. Apart from the clear endorsement of Salmonds superior campaigning skills, suddenly the establishment has woken to the fact which they should have awoken to over a year ago. There is a referendum. Salmond might win it. This belated panic reaction underlies much of the problem. Much of the reason why so many are considering ending so longer a relationship. A kind of assumption has pervaded the no campaign throughout everywhere south of Jedburgh. Now England has been startled into realising that actually, forgetting the negative campaigning of Darling, England is worse off without Scotland. Too late, I suspect. I live in the North East. I understand how disenfranchised people in Scotland must feel. Wandering around the boarded up houses, listening to new items of still more factory closures, London does not just seem a long way away. It seems irrelevant. Scotland needs either a massive change in that stance, or it needs independance. Only one of those options is on the ballot paper.
