Out of respect to the family we will not be posting any pictures of yesterdays fatal incident in our borough. Our thoughts are with them at this time. To make a positive out of this very negative event, use this time if you suspect a tree near your home is in danger of falling, contact one of the many local tree experts in our borough to inspect both the health of your tree, the location of the roots and root bowl, and stability of the terrain in which your larger trees are rooted in. Last year with Sandy many of these larger trees suffered such a barrage of winds that many may have been even weekend and damaged then. Couple that with the large amount of snow and now snow melt, you have a very soft ground for the trees to be rooted in. There is nothing worse for a firefighter, police officer, or an EMT than to be called to a scene where they cannot change the outcome. So the best way to handle something like this is to work to educate the public and minimize the chance of instances like this happening again.
