Over our first major joint flare up and this boy has a TON of energy...like he is a puppy all over again! So we have to get his energy out in a positive way. Supplements and vitamins and new meds with a few physical therapy exercises and swimming have seem to really control his elbow displasia. After swimming is when we saw biggest improvement (so I would recommend that if your pup has elbow issues). His energy is way above anything I have ever seen with him! So one of the awesome little girls I baby sit helped me do some brain games/nose work. Every toy of Elvis is named. He knows his family by name, his toys, and kinzies supplies all by name. So we put him in the laundry room. Shut the door and hid squeaks, his absolute favorite toy. We open the door and tell him find squeaks, and off with his nose he goes. Having fun and wearing him out doing a positive game that benefits him. Win win!!! As for surgery, we are waiting to see how far apart flare ups will come. Last time he wouldnt bare weight...so the fact he has recovered so amazingly well is beyond what we hoped for. Our specialist is hopeful he will have flare ups far between each other if we stay consistent with his regimen and change it when it needs tweaking and later see it coming back when arthritis sets in with a vengeance. We are hoping that means we will have 2-4 years of very controlled joint pain...which is good!!!! Our vets and specialists didnt expect him to recover like he has, so he is surpassing all of our expectations!!! One of a kind pup
