Over-sized delivery trucks are a major challenge for San Franciscos streets, and moving toward smaller delivery trucks would be a positive change. Large delivery trucks required wider streets and wider turns, which is inconsistent with safe streets. They also are more likely to double park, thus blocking either traffic lanes or bike lanes. Its good to see that the industry is starting to produce smaller vehicles and that street design guidelines may be moving toward designing streets to take into account smaller trucks. It would be good for us to explore the extent to which it makes sense to restrict delivery truck size in San Francisco.
