Over the eastern North Pacific basin on this Thursday morning, a trough of low pressure extends from the Gulf of Tehuantepec southwestward for several hundred miles. The associated showers and thunderstorms have not become any better organized. However, environmental conditions remain favorable for development of a tropical cyclone somewhere within this area over the next couple of days and, if one were to form, it would likely move northward or northwestward toward the coast of Mexico. Regardless of whether or not development occurs, heavy rains are likely along portions of the Pacific coast of Mexico from the Gulf of Tehuantepec westward overthe next few days.
