Over the last 12 years of living in Pittsburgh, Ive had the great opportunity to call a number of theatre companies home. In August of 2010, I added another to that list, performing a staged reading of Mediocre Beings. It was a one man show written by P. W. Fitz-Randolph as part of the Pittsburgh New Works Festival, directed by Joey Yow of this group called Throughline that I hadnt heard of before. Over the next few years, I saw several of their productions from uncomfortable seats in a non-air-conditioned auditorium, then eventually from slightly more-comfortable chairs at the Grey Box in Lawrenceville (when I was lucky enough to get a chair during standing-room-only performances). Last year, I performed with Throughline, once again under the direction of Joey Yow and this July, I will be taking the stage with them again in a world premiere play titled A New Death by Pittsburgh playwright C.S. Wyatt. You should watch this video, then please consider supporting their campaign. The funding is an all-or-nothing type thing and this is a season of shows that you will certainly want to see all of. Dont make these guys go back to the uncomfortable auditorium seats. Plus, a majority of the shows take place during the summer so the whole no air conditioning thing would suck, too.
