Over the last few weeks, we have talked at length about how games and game culture can be powerful vehicles for learning; in week five, we go into greater depth across a broad area of select content areas: Literacy, Social Studies, Science, Computer Science, and Information Literacy. Here we detail key findings in each of these five domain areas, going deeper into some of our own key studies and the research of colleagues across the field. For your assignment, well have you sample some of your own favorite game-related fan-created texts and test them for reading level, lexical complexity, and academic vocabulary. You just might find yourself surprised by the forms of work game cultures produce!
