Over the pass, NOT, and around S, Lake Tahoe to Channas house we go ~Channa Cinquini!!! The Suburban knows the way to carry the clan through the wide and drifting snow!! (This was the song in my head the whole way.) Wow, wasnt expecting that one. 10 hours into the trip and turned around at Donner Pass with just 1 1/2 hours to our destination. It was either stay in Truckee, (afterthought well do next time), or go to Hwy 89 around South Shore to 50, then Folsom Blvd. to Roseville. In the darkness of a snow storm doing 15-25 MPH, that added 5, yes FIVE hours to what should have been an 11-12 hour trip. On the 10 MPH hairpin turns, we did 2, yes 2 MPH. By the time we hit South Shore, we were up to the high speed of 35! Saw at least 25 cars without chains off the road or on a tow truck. Did they not read the signs? Highway patrol out in full force. Thankfully we had the monster Suburban which can go through just about anything and eased our minds and provided safe travels, not to mention being in the company of two of my kids. So we cranked up Katelynn Manleys awesome tunes and cruised our way to sisters house arriving at about midnight, 17 hours later, where we were greeted with JIMBOYS TACOS and a cold beer....or two! Though Ive traveled solo plenty, Im so grateful to have been in the awesome company of two of my kids without whom, I surely would have lost my mind! Good morning California friends and family! Though our visit will be short, Id love to see you. Let me if you want to try to get together!
