Over the past 11 years Ive been training people FITNESS has come a long way - Off the top of my head, here are the Top 25 Things WE Had Backwards, WHOOPS! :) 1. Isolated muscles or groups / total body 2. big, comfy running shoes / minimalist running shoes (2006 top picks all over 10oz, 2013 none over 10oz) 3. high carb / low carb 4. low fat / healthy fat, even high fat. 5. machines / bodyweight + free weights 6. Static Stretching / Dynamic movement 7. food pyramid / primal approach 8. whole wheat everything / avoid gluten 9. long slow distance to burn fat / short bursts 10. eat every 2-3 hours / intermittent fasting 11. 60 minute workouts / 6 minute workouts 12. muscles, muscles, muscles / fascia, fascia, fascia 13. crunches / planks 14. barbells / logs and rocks, novel approaches 15. abs, abs, abs / glutes, glutes, glutes 16. constant breathing / methodical breathing 17. 5k jog / 15k mud run 18. calories / whole foods and who cares. 19. sitting on a ball / standing desk 20. Work the site of the pain / work everything else 21. Always eat something before you workout / workout on an empty stomach 22. 1 on 1 trainer / small group training 23. go to the doctor / find an integrative practitioner 24.
