Owain Glyndwr (1350-1416) was loyal supporter of the English King Richard II. But in 1400 he raised an army and rebelled against the English rule. The campaign lasted for 16 years and at times threatened the crown of England. In 2007 the townsfolk of Corwen in Wales raised a magnificent statue to their favorite son in the town square. The bronze statue was commissioned from the artist and sculptor Colin Spofforth.
