Its hard to say for definite but we always seems to have a shift change of anglers on Sundays, Wednesday and Fridays, with Sunday afternoons arguably being the best time to arrive. Many anglers seem to think that all lakes are permanently full and you can never get a swim, this is far from the case. We can get exceptionally busy on weekends, especially on bank holidays but even then its very rare that we are completely full, in fact during the last two years we can only remember this happening once (the recent Easter Bank Holiday). Below are the number of swims on each lake that were free at roughly midday Sunday 15th just gone. (Number of Free Swims) Brasenose-One (35 swims free) Brasenose-Two (33 swims free) St. Johns Pool (27 swims free) Manor Farm Lake (Closed for weed cutting) Oxlease Lake (25 swims free) Hunts Corner Lake (3 swims free) Hardwick/Smiths (33 swims free) HUNTS CORNER LAKE 20 Jun Julian Micklethwaite landed twelve fish up to 28.10 during a session on Hunts using Mainline cell wafters fished over a bed of corn and pellet. MANOR FARM LAKE 16 Jun Unfortunately the big mirror known as Popeye was found dead on Friday; almost certainly a spawning related loss. This fish regularly topped 40lb and holds the lake record at 48lb 04oz. 17 Jun **Manor Farm Lake Is Now Open** The weed-cutting has finished earlier than expected an the lake is now back open. MNDA FISH WITH THE STARS CHARITY EVENT 16 Jun SPECIAL RAFFLE: MNDA PRO - AM EVENT ‘FISH WITH THE STARS’ Top anglers, Dave Lane and Paul Forward have put their names forward for a very special raffle to support the charity event run by Linear Fisheries in support of the MND Association. The two winners will be notified by phone and published on Dave’s Face Book and the Linear website linear-fisheries.co.uk For more information about the main event contact the Fishery Manager [email protected] SOME WORDS FROM DAVE LANE For this year’s MNDA charity event at Linear Fisheries, myself and Paul Forward have come up with something a little different. As we tend to spend so much time at the annual event, touring the other lakes on the venue, we thought it would be nice to offer a special stalking opportunity for a couple of like-minded anglers. Both Paul and I love the mobile approach to carp fishing and the Linear Fisheries venue, with its diversity of lakes, is ideally suited to this approach. Most years in the past we have had our best results whilst fishing miles from our actual, allocated, swims. Young Sam, in the photo, can bear testament to this as he caught his new personal best thirty two pound mirror on one of our little floater fishing trips. A massive achievement for any angler, bagging a thirty plus on a lightweight surface fishing set-up. If you think you are up to the challenge, and you have what it takes to spend a few days yomping around the lakes looking for that special opportunity, then take a look at the details of the event and buy yourself a raffle ticket, remember that ALL the money raised goes to a good cause and ALL of the anglers involved give their time freely to make this a very special event. Dave Lane OXLEASE LAKE 20 Jun Scott Harris had a double along with a 32.08 mirror fishing hemp, corn and krill boilies at 60 yards range. Fishing together Russ Guise and Grant had 34 fish using RM Baits smoked salmon and plum boilies with maggots and casters. Their catch included a number of twenties and two thirties. Andreas had a lovely scaly 21lb 03oz mirror using Sonubaits Code-Red boilies. And Richard Hill had six fish including twenties weighing 24.08 and 27.04.
