Oye oye! Toango has finally anchored in Mangareva Island in the stunning Archipel de Gambier, French Polynesia. All our crew members have survived the 42 days long journey in the open ocean and are now legal, stamped and healthy. It took us 19 days just to sail around Galapagos to reach the trade winds with no motor, we had a good 4 days of drifting back and then really great winds following with a record of 150 nautical miles in one day. We had mostly really great weather conditions, we had one almost gale running under bare poles with winds of 35 knots! We then officially had our first contact with land on the 3rd of June with a stunning unhabited Island in the far and fresh southern Polynesia where we stayed about a week mostly devouring coconuts, speare fishing and doing expeditions. We then tried to anchor in the famous Pitcairn Island but decided to follow our route, turned off by the 50 dollars per head land fees then landed in another unhabited Island wich such a beautiful rich wildlife in the archipel of Gambier where we camped for a few days and also catched ciguaterra fish posionning... Dont eat the coral fish without asking locals guys! Finally ready to meet our first humans after two months, our starter motor broke in our hands and Captain Tobi passed two days trying to make it work for at least on last time to get to Rikitea, the nearest civilization about three hours sailing. Enakoe! Here we are since yesterday, meeting the warm and generous mangerevian people. We had no problems at all stamping all of our passports for 3 months stay at the gendarmerie even with our shady papers. Luckily we arrived on the last day of school and assisted to their traditional dance event where we met all the village, made circus and played music with the kids, already have some plans of workshops fot the festivities upcoming in the next month. We dont know what is gonna happen with our starter motor, Toango might be stuck in Mangareva waiting for some shipped parts, it is still unkown waters but we are really looking forward for the community meeting in the tuamotus for the next full moon, we all keep in touch!! Ahoooo family! Spread the art, share the knowledge, we shall meet under a shiny moon, soon! Magie, Mayan, Tomas, Tobias and Vladimir AKA Scratchy, Ironstomach Zoo, Tomi the Octopus, Grumpy Mitch and Salty Vlad PS more pictures and videos to be coming with better connection
