P. Vaidyanathan Iyer of the Indian Express tries hard to prove that Modis first multilateral visit to Brazil was a success in his report entitled, For Modi, first BRICS trip a success. He considers his ability to meet all the BRICS leaders individually as an achievement. Another achievement is that India got the Presidency of the new BRICS bank which will soon be set up. Will it be located in Delhi or Mumbai or Ahmedabad or Varanasi? No, it will be based in Shanghai, which we all know is in China. Is Indias Presidency permanent? No, it will rotate after six years? Is there any guarantee that an Indian will be the CEO of the bank? No, none at all. Now, on what basis does Iyer describe the visit as a success? Let me quote his report, Sources said Modis body language was confident. His handshakes are firm said a government official. Poor Iyer has to quote a government official to say that Modis handshakes were confident.
