P-r-e-s-s R-e-l-e-a-s-e: EMILIA KIHSLINGER, USA Country Representative Of ‘CORAfrica’ Rounds Off Visit To Cross River State By Admin Paradisevoice The USA Country Representative of Children of Rural Africa, CorAfrica, Ms. Emilia Kihslinger has recently completed her visit of Cross River State, Nigeria (Monday, November 10th to Friday, November 14th). During her time in the State, she met with stakeholders to explore possible partnerships with the organization. In his welcome address to the Ms. Kihslinger, the Governor of Cross River State Senator Liyel Imoke who was represented by Dr. Tom Ogar, Secretary to the State Government expressed the willingness of the State Government to partner with CORAfrica in the area of Education, Health and Agriculture, having clearly studied its mission and vision for the education of children. He reiterated the readiness of the present administration to transform the rural sector and remarked that the programmes of CORAfrica are in line with the rural transformation agenda of the Imoke administration. In her remarks, Ms Kihslinger proposed that for children and communities to thrive better, the states government should consider the adoption of CorAfrica Community Education (CEC) model as the State’s implementation tool for education and community development. On behalf of CorAfrica, she promised to contribute in the collaborative process ahead. The CorAfrica team while in the State also visited the Ministries of Education, Agriculture, Health and Water Resources as well as the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), State Agency for the Control of AIDS (SACA), Community and Social Development Agency, Micro Finance and Enterprise Development Agency and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) among others. Fr Ebele2Children of Rural Africa, CorAfrica was founded by Rev. Fr. Peter Obele Abue, a Catholic priest of Ogoja diocese, Cross River State, with a focus on improving the education of rural children through the promotion of healthcare, agriculture, water and sanitation as well as economic empowerment programs as they affect the livelihood of children in rural communities. In June 2006, Fr. Abue officially inaugurated CorAfrica and was formally granted the status of a 501(c) non-profit organization in the United States of America. Thereafter in 2011, CorAfrica was localized in Nigeria first with the National Planning Commission under the Bilateral and Economic Commission and later with the Corporate Affairs Commission as a local NGO. Since then, CorAfrica has been operating its two main branches under the leadership of its founder who builds upon the experience and successes of his past work in the USA and Nigeria. Recently, Fr. Abue’s humanitarian efforts (via CorAfrica) were featured in the October editions of PLANET AFRICA; an internationally acclaimed publications that focus on celebrating worldwide achievements as well as Christian values. Presently, CorAfrica operates its educational projects in Mbube Ogoja and Ipong-Obudu LGA with its main offices at #14 Ubiaja Street Garki-Abuja and Plot 50 Etim Essien Udim Avenue Ekorinim Village, Calabar.
