PA Nitro tour make first trip to hidden raceway for exhibition event Saturday August 17th would see the first ever invasion of the pa nitro tour to the short high banks of the hidden raceway, with the best drivers in rc dirt oval on hand it would be a record breaking day for sure. There were 52 entries on hand for this first exhibition race and these drivers were ready to go as track records would fall all day long. First up would be the Street stock class and this is the novice class on the pa nitro tour but it has drivers of different ages and skill levels. This class would be fast paced all day long but when qualifying was all said and done Rowdy Heffner a second generation winner would pick up TQ honors. The green would drop with Heffner leading second Generation driver Austin (the closer) Griffie and Mike (MC Hammer) Walker to the line. After several laps of tough racing an a few bumps and spins Rowdy Heffner would pick up the win and finish his perfect day in street stock action Austin Griffie would come home second and Mike Walker would come home with third place honors. The next Class up would be the ultra-competitive 17.5 dodc spec late model class. There were 9 entries in this class and they were all very talented drivers with very fast cars. The Track record in this class would fall many times but when it was all said and done TQ honors and the track record would go to an invader from North Caroline in the form of Jim Pohlman. Pohlman would TQ the late model class with a 72 with a 4:00 run with his BMS car. After A Track issue we would be forced to restart the B main in Late Model and this was Lucky for Dave Loughead as he had a rough first start but with a second chance at it he would better chose his moves and run away and hide in The b main picking up the win Dave Greenly would come home second and also bump to the A main. Gil Palomino would come up with problems early and pull pit side and finish 3rd. The A main was now set as Pohlman Would lead Them to the line and after some quick fender rubbing it would not take long to see that this field was split in speed. Only a few laps into the Run Phil Copper would slip under Pohlman and Take the Lead as the 2 would battle several times in lapped traffic Pohlman on several occasions would pull right up to the back bumper of coopers car but just could not get the job done as cooper would Pick up the Win in 17.5 late model with his BMS car. Pohlman would settle for second a close battle would break out for 3rd and at the line Casey Hess would pick up 3rd With Dan Harding finishing fourth. Fifth would go to bump up driver and hard charging Dave Loughead, 6th would go to Trace Bowden, seventh position would go to Brad Mohler with Dave Greenly rounding out the field in 8th. This would Lead us to the 17.5 Stock EDM class and there were 7 very fast cars entered in this class and these drivers would be up on the wheel all day this class also shattered the previous track record several times but when it was all said and done your new track record holder and TQ would be Scott Singly with his JRC Jet with a 70 lap run. This would send us to the A main and Scott Singley would lead them to the line but after some issue Keith Steinle would take the lead and these two would battle it out for the majority of the race back and forth but when it was all said and done Scott Singly would complete his domination of the Hidden raceway picking up tq and the win , Steinle would settle for second, New comer Steve Weller would come home third with Jeff Greenly fourth Hard Charging Glenn Norton fifth Rj Dittmer sixth and tough luck breaking early Dale Hartzel would come home seventh after having a very fast car all day long. Next would be the largest and most competitive class of the day 17.5 spec Sprint this class would have 22 entries and would be the closest racing all day long. The track record would also fall several times throughout the day in this class but when all was said and done TQ and the new record of 70 laps would go to Phil Cooper in his BMS sprinter. The D main would be first off and this race would Be all mike Warner and his Bms sprinter but the tough race was for second and the bump up between Glenn Norton and Steve Weller who would exchange the second spot on several occasions but when the 4 min were up it was Warner picking up the win with Weller second Glen Norton third and Randy Laslow 4th. This would lead us to the C main and this race would be an interesting on to say the least with many drivers trying to get the bump spots we had several accident and cars all over the place but when it was all said and done this race was all curt Sieber in his Hyper drive hustler from the 5th spot to the win, Brock Heffner would finish second Rick Debroise third Tim Hunter fourth, Jeff Zartman fifth, Mike Warner sixth, Steve Weller seventh and Kevin Bower Scratching in eighth. This would lead us to the all-important B main and the last to spots to make it into the show and boy would this be a good race with lots of fast cars and a few fast pace moves leading us to the checkered flag. When all was said and Done Duane Wentzel the hidden race way winter points champ would win and bump in his custom works sprinter, second would go to David “Jersey Rush” Bartels in his custom works sprinter. Jason Korb would settle for third, David “OJ” Johns fourth, Brock Heffner fifth, Curt Sieber 6th, Kerry Bolinger seventh and Casey Hess scratching in eighth. This would lead us to the closest race of the day and one of the most exciting as well Phil cooper would lead them to the line but after some contact Andy Phelps would be all over him for second and the two would get into traffic and cooper would pull away with Phelps settling into second as George verbonitz would come charging in the 3rd position the closest battle was for the fourth spot as a 3 car battle between Bartels, Steinle and Wentzel would break out with all 3 cars bumper to bumper at the line it would be all cooper picking up his second win of the day in his BMS sprinter George Verbonitz would make a last corner pass to come home second Phelps would settle for third, the bumper to bumper b battle for fourth would go to Duane Wentzel with fifth going to Keith Steinle and sixth to Dave Bartels, Justin Haynes would come home 7th after tough luck early and Dale Hartzel would scratch and come home eighth. This would lead us to the premier division of the day Mod Sprint and this class was a lot of the same the track record Fell many times but when it was all said and done new track record holder and TQ would be Phil Cooper in his BMS Sprint with a 74 lap run. The B main would end early after 2 competitors would drop out but the win would go to Brad Mohler and His Hyper drive Hustler over Andy Phelps in second, Dave Loughead 3rd and Dan Danoski 4th. This would lien up The A main and Cooper would lead them to the line and he would Have “The Hammer” josh Kreamer all over his rear bumper as they would very quickly catch lap traffic cooper would cut through the lapped traffic like a hot knife through butter with Kreamer in tow but Kreamer would find some tough luck having contact with a lapped car and then more trouble and soon pull pit side. This race would be very fast paced with laps in the 3.1 and 3.2 ranges the whole way through. When all the dust settled on this even it was cooper picking up the Hat trick and His 3rd A main win of the day in his BMS sprint, Second would Go to Brian Breckenridge with third going to hard charging and bum Driver Brad Mohler, fourth would go to Brian Boyd, fifth to Andy Phelps, sixth to Jim Pohlman, seventh to Josh Kreamer and rounding out the field in 8th with some hard luck was Travis Light. ...
