PADDLING FOR A FREE WEST PAPUA Finally, after more than one year of preparing, the Danish Free West Papua activist Peter Bang has now successfully completed his secret mission, and has just now returned safely to Denmark from West Papua after his expedition “Paddling for a Free West Papua”, a one month journey that took place right in the heart of the highlands in the occupied nation of West Papua in order to document and support the indigenous Papuan peoples struggle for freedom. Peter Bang: - “Only few days after the beginning of the journey the expedition turned out to be an escape mission. There are spies everywhere, and after meeting with old friends and freedom fighters hiding in the jungle, I had to escape from the Indonesian Army and Police, who probably would have imprisoned me for 15 years or killed me right on the spot and left my body to rotten in the jungle if they have found me paddling on Baliem River in a small rubber boat named FREEDOM with a Morning Star Flag around my neck. I was helped a lot by Papuan freedom fighters during the escape mission. After experience the reality of what is going on in West Papua I am more dedicated than ever to support PAPUA MERDEKA”. urlmin/3hmyd If you want to follow the journey and learn more, then please join Free West Papua Campaign Denmark on Facebook.
