PAKISTAN-AFGHANISTAN BORDERS and SMUGGLERS ADVOCATES After reading Rustam Shah Mohmands article in Express Tribune (11 Nov), threatening the State of Pakistan of dire consequences if it goes ahead with measures to seal the borders with Afghanistan against uncontrolled movement, one is amazed that the man, having been given the best of appointments and opportunities to serve the State of Pakistan continues to be smugglers advocate even in advanced years of life. Whose interests this man has been serving at the cost of interests of the State of Pakistan? Which State in todays world will keep the borders open for uncontrolled movement of large number of people? Abdul Razaq Achakzai present strong man of Kandahar disrupted works on the borders on Pakistani side few months back. He instigated firing incidents and also got some para military soldiers picked up from Chaman area because his smuggling operations were being threatened due to digging of ditch and fencing on Pakistan-Afghanistan borders. He is the same man who was served as conduit in providing financial and material support to Mehmud Khan Achakzai that got almost a dozen of the clan into important positions, including one placed as Governor Balochistan. Rustan Shah Mohmand is advancing the cause of smugglers like Abdul Razaq Achakzai and his likes. Beware PTI leadership. This devils advocate is known to be Imran Khan Advisor on tribal affairs. EXPRESS TRIBUNE also does not seem to have discerning editors to filter out such crap.
