PARROT NEWSPAPER MONDAY EDITORIAL Respectability for each other; the way to go in Senate vs. Police boss upheaval This 53rd Legislature, second sitting will go down in history for their robust fight with members of the Executive in a show of strength. The usage of article 44 continuously by members of the Legislature to intimidate their opponents has been overwhelming lately. It is being seen increasingly that this pull of strength between members of the Executive and the Legislature will strain better relationship for the governance process. The incarceration of the Superintendent of Montserrado, along with the willful stoppage of said orders by some women of Liberia, has since strained relationships with some members of the Executive being considered as ‘Non-governmental’ materials in the eyes of some Legislators. The Chris Massaquoi vs. Senate standup sends a clamoring sign of interference with government functionaries in the performance of their work. Every member on Capitol Hills seem to want similar cloth attached to some executive members as using police protection and left lane of the road amongst others, though their salaries and allowances sky-rocket high beyond their executive counterparts. Amidst all going on in the clash of power it is prudent were each sector of the government to see the functionary of another body as the police, as doing a great job for the population. The police works 24/7 protecting lives and property and amongst the least pay in the nation which is far more disturbing. Liberians are getting saddened by the manner and form article 44 of the constitution is being grossly misused by Legislators with everyone that confronts them leading to prison or disrobed; if their actions were just turned to aid for their constituents, their gains then would be mammoth. We encourage the Legislature to at every point exhibit some restrain in carrying out their vigorous usage of article 44 especially against folks who work tirelessly for the support to humanity. Respectability matters!
