Let us think of the Dog & the Owener for a second .. This must be a nightmare for them .. Stay alert.... Please read below FIRST UPDATE:- A Giant Schnauzer that was at Darlington on Saturday has been confirmed by a vet today. (yesterday 18th sept 2013) The dog had taken ill in the morning and off to the vet this afternoon. Please keep an eye on your dogs and watch put for nasty diarrhoea, vomiting and letharg 2ND UPDATE:- The Dog in question was well yesterday,(18th Sept 2013) and had now taken runs ... went off food ..... then taken to the vets at 2pm, it was confirmed parvo, This "could" have been picked it up from as early as City of Birmingham but many posts do not inform this ...and .only informs Darlington. The Dog could have picked it up anywhere... The worrying part was/is the dog was carrying it at the show. 3RD UPDATE :- 18th September 2013 PARVO STRAIN F NOW CONFIRMED........ F strain symptoms to watch for: Gelatin-like stool with some blood. Vomiting with bile and foam. Rapid weight loss (within a few hours after becoming ill.) Temperature goes up to 106 or 107 degrees (You may or may not see a temperature rise) Not drinking—acts normal, playing but rests more often—probably not eating Lethargic—lays around, dehydration continues—at this point the dog will DIE in LESS than 24 hours unless it is detected in the first stage (not drinking and low grade temperature) The only medication that helps is SULFAMETHOXAZOLE TRIMETHOPRIM (bactrin)
