PAUSING TO PRAY Recently, while taking in the view from the Fishermen’s Memorial in Gloucester, I noticed, tucked between the curved granite memorial stones, a rusty replica of an anchor, and carved on a wood plaque attached to the anchor, were the words “Let A Prayer Be Said”. As I stood there, I realized that a small boy was kneeling in front of the plaque. Quietly, I moved back watching while he prayed silently carefully reading the words, caressing the curve of the rust-covered-anchor, and just before rising to leave, gently touching the top of the wooden prayer panel.
