PBMS contributes to the training of future conservationists Last week, Lee Walker, the coordinator for the Predatory Bird Monitoring Scheme gave a lecture to third year undergraduates and MSc students at Lancaster University. The talk was based on PBMS work assessing whether rat poisons pose a risk to individuals and populations of predatory birds. Lee enjoyed the opportunity to talk to the students enrolled on the ‘Issues in Conservation’ course, commenting that “it was great to pass on our experiences, approaches and findings relating to this current issue affecting the sustainable use of rodenticides “. He added “The students were very interested in our work and the subject, and the lecture was followed by a lively debate focussed around whether mitigation measures were needed and what they might include”.
