PDP condemns harassment of Kashmiri youth at UP varsity Such incidents add to alienation of Kashmiri youth: Waheed-ur-Rehman =>Reacting sharply to the news reports about the harassment of Kashmiri students at a private university in Noida in Uttar Pradesh Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Monday said reoccurrence of such unfortunate incidents are shameful and against the very idea of humanity and democracy. In a statement the party’s youth wing in charge, Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra castigated the university authorities and UP administration for not acting tough against the fringe elements who have brazenly abused the Kashmiri students. He said such sickening incidents only add to the alienation of Kashmiri youth who have already gone through tough times because of the bad politics played around here. Parra said jingoism and ultra-nationalistic attitude being played in some campuses in the country to harass Kashmiri students is a dangerous trend and it indicates that we have landed in the bad times. He also condemned the slapping of PSA against Waseem Ahmad Sofi of Pulwama. Criticizing the chief minister, Omar Abdullah, Parra said it is, actually, he (Omar) who has create a negative image about Kashmiri youth by demonizing them as stone pelters drug addicts, anti-nationals, criminals, for which they are paying heavy price both in and outside the state. “Omar Abdullah has created a new stereotype Kashmiri image that is seen with suspicion everywhere” he said and added Omar Abdullah is left with no moral authority to speak on behalf of Kashmiri youth.
