PEACE – In the Face of Adversity and Stress (*PLEASE READ THE LAST PARAGRAPH IF YOU DON’T HAVE TIME TO READ THIS WHOLE MESSAGE – THIS MESSAGE IS DEDICATED TO ZANE & MARLA HARTMAN") YESTERDAY: I began my day with much uncertainty in my immediate path. Five years have passed since my last heart attack… my last round of cardiac struggles and surgical treatments. My cardiac physician strongly advised that I undergo a chemical stress test because I am unable to function on a tread mill any longer due to my injuries from an accident a few years back. I was on new medication with regard to recently diagnosed A-Fib added heart problems. I was warned NOT to miss any doses of these meds due to the possible severity of reactions to such. I forgot one of my evening meds… Next day began with chest discomfort… a few nitro pills to compensate while I was trying to do the “man thing” and decide for myself that it was just a passing situation that I would soon be over with. I PRAYED about it… God orchestrated my circumstances so that I found myself in the vicinity of Victoria College to pick up and return Mr. Larry Dunn from a “home bound visitation” that we had scheduled. After letting him off I turned towards home… when I remember that I had put a document in my car whereby I had meticulously typed a “message” that I had planned to “possibly” call and share with Dr. Krueger’s cardiac nurse. At this point, I was overcome with the persuasion to turn and immediate go to Dr. Krueger’s office where I submitted that document to their window secretary. As expected, all of the cardiac folks were very busily tied up with their patients. The agreement was that the window lady would share this document with the cardiac nurse and she would have the option of returning a call to me if it was considered important. I received that call… from Dr. Krueger himself. His recommendation was for us to schedule an immediate nuclear chemical stress test. NOW… the reason for this message! Not to belabor my personal medical situations BUT to offer up PRAISE TO OUR LORD… brag on Him for holding true to His promises to me/us as we work out the details of our everyday lives. This did cause troubled waters for me… anxiety was having to be wrestled down once again in favor of allowing HIS PEACE to invade my heart. He always understands and knows that our lives can be difficult BUT… He always has the perfect solution: OUR PEACE RESIDES IN OUR SAVIOR, who loves us unconditionally. He always promises to keep us and deliver us into the Father’s loving arms. David wrote Psalm 91 at the most difficult point of his life – when Saul was trying to kill him at every turn. “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust.” How could David write such words right when Saul was determined to kill him? David had a divine, unshakable peace within his heart. He knew this was God’s responsibility and David allowed Him to protect his life. THE SAFEST PLACE FOR US TO BE when trials come is in the everlasting arms of Jesus: “Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace!...” Yesterday afternoon, I received a call from the cardiac nurse. She was bubbling over as she told me that my stress test came out GREAT and that I could return to the Health Plex to participate in their cardiac rehab program once again. LIFE IS SWEET… 1) GOOD physician report; 2) THE SPURS WON GAME 1 WITH THE HEAT! 3) Received LOTS OF RAIN LAST NIGHT!; PSALMS 4 (excerpts): You heard when I called, O God of my righteousness! You relieved me of my distress… The Lord always hears when I call out to Him… Put our trust in the Lord… He has placed GLADNESS in our hearts… YOU ALONE, O LORD, make us to dwell in safety. We will have those times when STORMS will roll over our lives with bounding blows. Let us maintain our PEACE and BALANCE by abiding in our relationship with Jesus Christ. DEDICATED TO ZANE & MARLA HARTMAN WHO ARE DEMONSTRATING THIS UNSHAKABLE TRUST IN OUR LORD AS THEY WRESTLE WITH SOME OF THE MOST TRYING CIRCUMSTANCES THAT ANY OF US COULD POSSIBLY FACE IN THIS LIFE! MAY GOD’S SWEET AND COMFORTING GRACE CONTINUE TO SURROUND THEIR EVERY UNDERTAKING IS MY PRAYER!
